ABOUT SABINE WOLNICZAK
Sabine Wolniczak has made baskets for 22 years. Her range includes a selection of traditional and functional baskets - to more customised work - which are much admired for their subtle blends and shades of colours.
Sabine also has longstanding experience in Special Education working as a Craft Tutor. She runs courses throughout the year to give people of all walks of life the experience of an absorbing, therapeutic, relaxing and rewarding day.
Sabine feels tremendously fortunate to continue the craft of basketmaking. She is grateful to some of the best basket makers in Europe whose expert knowledge was readily passed on and which extended her love and awareness for this wonderful craft. She continuously strives to meet the challenge of developing her own skills and that of others.
"Christine Murphy found us a wonderful tutor in Sabine Wolniczak and organised a one day workshop for six of our members. During the course of a long and enjoyable day we learnt the basic skills of basketry and each completed a potato strainer.
Although all of us were working to the same pattern each basket turned out individual in its form, use of colour, size & detail and we were all delighted with the results. So delighted, in fact, that we are now in the process of planning a two day improver’s basketry workshop and are also looking at trying our hand at some other crafts such as felt-making."
